THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT

It plays an unequivocal role in our everyday lives. We spend over 90% of our lives inside buildings! It is estimated that 40% of our nation’s energy is used in buildings. Heating, cooling, cooking, water heating, lighting, and fans and pumps that move air and water use incredible amounts of energy. Most of us don’t ever think about this. There exists a huge potential in the building sector to minimize energy use, and incorporate efficient, proven technologies. And, this can all be accomplished while providing better comfort and indoor air quality. Most importantly, cost savings associated with energy savings really do exist.
